Ono Island is a 5.5-mile long barrier island in southern Baldwin County, Alabama, at the mouth of Perdido Bay on the northern Gulf of Mexico. It is bordered by Bayou St. John to the north and Old River to the south.

Ono Island is a private gated community which is not within the corporate limits of any municipality. It is both private and gated. Although not within any municipality the island is subject to governance by the Baldwin County Commission.

Many of the homes on Ono Island have deep water access and the Gulf of Mexico is a short run, especially from the Southern side of the island. Ono Island is considered to be in Alabama, but much of the island, geographically, is located in Florida.

The island’s surrounding communities are Orange Beach to the West and Perdido Key, FL to the East. There are approximately 900 residences on Ono Island which are governed by an elected group of directors to control the Ono Island POA (Property Owners Association)

Homes for sale on Ono Island start in the $300,000 price range and go up to $6,000,000. The only access by vehicle to the island is a private bridge guarded by 24 hour security.
